The Everlasting Covenant of the City of Enoch
The Everlasting Covenant was a promise between Enoch and the Lord - the application of which was known as the "Fullness of the Gospel."
The Everlasting Covenant of Enoch is often overshadowed by the "New and Everlasting Covenant" of marriage, just as the Fullness of the Gospel is often overshadowed by the Book of Mormon. Please read the following scriptures for further light and knowledge of the little known Everlasting Covenant of Enoch. It has the potential to change a people and to change society.
JST Genesis 9:21-3 (Noah)
21 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant, which I made unto thy father Enoch; that, when men should keep all my commandments, Zion should again come on the earth, the city of Enoch which I have caught up unto myself.
22 And this is mine everlasting covenant, that when thy posterity shall embrace the truth, and look upward, then shall Zion look downward, and all the heavens shall shake with gladness, and the earth shall tremble with joy;
23 And the general assembly of the church of the firstborn shall come down out of heaven, and possess the earth, and shall have place until the end come. And this is mine everlasting covenant, which I made with thy father Enoch.
JST Genesis 13:13 (Abram - who was visited by God)
13 And remember the covenant which I make with thee; for it shall be an everlasting covenant; and thou shalt remember the days of Enoch thy father;
JST Deuteronomy 10:2 (Moses - who was visited by God, wanted to share the Everlasting Covenant with the people)
2 And I will write on the tables the words that were on the first tables, which thou brakest, save the words of the everlasting covenant of the holy priesthood, and thou shalt put them in the ark.
D&C 49:9 (God tries again with Joseph Smith)
9 Wherefore, I say unto you that I have sent unto you mine everlasting covenant, even that which was from the beginning.
D&C 66:2 (The covenant in action is known as the "fullness of the gospel")
2 Verily I say unto you, blessed are you for receiving mine everlasting covenant, even the fulness of my gospel, sent forth unto the children of men, that they might have life and be made partakers of the glories which are to be revealed in the last days, as it was written by the prophets and apostles in days of old.
D&C 88:133 (Formal greeting at the School of the Prophets)
133 Art thou a brother or brethren? I salute you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, in token or remembrance of the everlasting covenant, in which covenant I receive you to fellowship, in a determination that is fixed, immovable, and unchangeable, to be your friend and brother through the grace of God in the bonds of love, to walk in all the commandments of God blameless, in thanksgiving, forever and ever. Amen.
The basis for the Fulness of the Gospel is the Everlasting Covenant of Enoch. The Everlasting Covenant of Enoch is a promise available to us, if we so choose to live the same principles which the City of Enoch is based upon. The main principle is known as the United Order - the same order that exists in all heavenly communities.
The promise is to us and to our children. If we wish to live in a Heavenly Socieity, or if we wish to join the City of Enoch, then we need to live as they lived. We need to integrate the same principles they did into our own communities. The City of Enoch, the Fullness of the Gospel, the Everlasting Covenant of Enoch, the United Order are one and the same.
Moses tried to introduce it; the Lord Jesus Christ introduced it on both hemisphers; Joseph Smith Jr., Brigham Young and others introduced it as well. The promise remains open for us to integrate it at will. If we wait for instructions from the brethren, it may never come. But as a people, we are free to do as we please in the pursuit of much righteousness.
